Two - one on each front paw.

Since they haven't been there long- two week ago they were fine, I was thinking about just snipping them and pulling out the tip from the pad and cleaning it off. Doesn't look infected- just painful. Does that sound okay?

I looked it up on-line and know to check where the quick is before I snip and have stuff to clean them out. Our problem is going to be her screaming bloody murder at me (her usual for claw snips) and hopefully the neighbors won't think I am killing someone and call the cops.

I've got neosporine. I don't use it on her ears for pokies but I think that is okay if she happens to lick it.

Using Neosporine on her paws is taking a chance she might put a paw to an eye. I would just clip the claw and pulll the piece out of the pad. She'll wash it and clean the paw herself. Neosporine is dangerous to eyes.

THANKS! Did not know that.

Yep- she does take cleaning the front of her well. Now if I could get her to work on her backside...

Success! :-D

And I used a fingernail file- it turned out to be a whole lot easier than the clippers I bought. Just put some hydrogen peroxide on them, held the paw while it fuzzed, and that was that.

She yowled and growled and almost bit me (but pulled it). And she expected her shrimp treat when I set her down- inspected the floor RIGHT away  . I gave her five.

I'll continue to check on them for healing. None infected and both bleed a little freely. She licks them occasionally but has gotten up on a few things now.

Yay!! That's awesome!

That happened to Seasaidh shortly after I rescued him. He was on the feral side and I was just beginning to be able to pet him when I saw the nail in his paw pad. I didn't dare try to take it out myself because I was afraid of what he would do. It took me two weeks to "re-capture" him in the house. I used a plastic postal tub to corral him and then I put a laundry bag around the box and off we went to the vet.
