I am trying to decide what food to have Pudders on. Right now he has Fancy Feast. I am thinking about getting him Friskees. Just for the simple fact it is cheaper at Costco and Fancy Feast at Costco just has the kind with gravy and I know that has higher carbs. So I am trying to decide if it is worth switching him. I also heard somewhere that Fancy Feast isn't good for diabetic cats. So I am wondering if that is true also. Any information would be great.

Thanks-
Niki and Pudders.

Friskies pates are suitable and about half the cost of Fancy Feast per ounce.

Where did you read fancy feast wasn't good for diabetic cats?? Many people here feed that to their cats but just make sure you get the fancy feast classic pâtés since they are low carb and many of the other flavours aren't. See the link BJ provided.

Friskies is good too.. Again the pâtés though. And cheaper.

I have read so much information I really don't remember where. It could of been a friend that told me too. Or I could have dreamed it. I have been having dreams about you guys. I think I am going to try him on Friskees. I find just about every time I buy him food I am having to take some back because I get the wrong kind. I bet the girls at Target are thinking oh no not her again.

Thanks-

Here is a shorter printable list that is easy to print that I made.

The carb value is the % and the number at the end of my list is the phosphorus.

the negative aspect on fancy feast and/or friskies is the higher phosphorus values.
But it's still far better than any dry. My own cat prefers friskies and I'm still constantly trying to get
her to eat the "better" ones....

it varies by area of the country, but a can of friskies is 50cents where I am... but it does go on sale...
same with the fancy feast....
they seem to put good sales at petsmart.

All 14 of mine eat Friskies Pate style food and on that diet Maxwell has been OTJ for over 2 years and Autumn is headed that way she is right now trying real hard to work her way down the dosing scale. I tried all the "better" foods with no luck, Friskies was the only thing all 14 could agree on...lol
