Freezing Food

I am going to have to start freezing some of Bally's food for when I am away on business and the petsitter will be using the automated feeder.

I have read some people on this board who mix a little water into the food before freezing it. I was wondering if something more palatable -- like unsalted chicken stock -- would work better mixed into the food. Or is it better to not add anything at all? I am going to experiment before I have to be away but I hope to do this with as little food (and $$$) waste as possible. I'd love to hear from anyone who has gone the frozen food route. Thanks. (PS, I usually feed pate-style food like FF classics).

Everyone has their own favorite method. I have a silicone cupcake pan that I freeze my pucks in; they pop right out when frozen. Then I keep all the frozen pucks in a baggie in the freezer. One can of Fancy Feast fits into each cup, so I don't add water.

I have use water for the most part. When I boil a chicken breast for Zoe, I will save the water and use that for mixing in her food. Zoe doesn't seem to notice any difference between the plain water and the chicken water

Freezing works so well.......my petsitter prefers that I have the food already frozen, then it is simple for her to fill the feeder and not have to worry about portion sizes. I do mix a lot of water in as Zoe likes her food a little soupy.

Good luck!

Silicone cupcake tins! That is why I come to this board for help. Thank you both. I am going to freeze them and pop them into Ziploc bags and see how that works.

(I just have to remember not to use the cupcake pan for actual human cupcakes)

"Hey, this cupcake has an unusual flavor. What is it?"

"Um, devil's food and ocean whitefish."

My kitties all prefer soupy. I do 1-2 can cat food, equal amount of chicken thighs and equal amount of water. 2 of mine like theirs as frozen pops, and 2 prefer to wait for the thaw. I also use the silicone cup cake pans to freeze them in, and put in baggies.
