Hi everyone,

I recently discovered Pure Bites cat treats and Moritz really likes them. I give them to him with his pills/ sometimes sprinkle some over his food. I just want to be sure that the fact that they're freeze dried is ok for an OTJ cat. Since swearing off of dry cat food in January, I think I have an aversion to anything "dry"!

The cat treats are listed at the bottom of this page:

The turkey treats, which he really likes, are said to be "Made with only 1 Ingredient... 100% Pure USDA Inspected Turkey Breast":

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Elena

yep, freeze dried meat treats are purr-fect for kitties, diabetic or not :-) as they are pure protein no carbs if their only ingredient is the meat. and kitty gets some crunchiness .

Great, thank you!

I forgot to ask about phosphorous content. When last checked at the end of March 2012, Moritz's kidney levels were a bit borderline, so I try to give high quality protein and low phosphorous. Do you happen to know about phosphorous content in Pure Bites? Or perhaps someone made a treat data table with this information?

Thanks again!

Hi,
I just emailed the purebites company to ask them that.

I looked up phosphorus and turkey and some turkey can have a small amount so that made me decide to contact
purebites.
I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks so much! I had actually sent them an email a few days ago asking for the As Fed Nutritional Analysis but haven't heard back yet. Let's hope they respond soon! I'll let you know when I hear something.

All the best,
Elena

If you have a PetSmart nearby, they're stocking a new 'dog' treat that's just freeze dried chicken. They're under the 'Simply Nourish' brand priced at $9/5 oz. They're bigger pieces and seem softer - just break them up.

HUGS to all!

My girls love purebites! The cheapest place I found for it is kingswholesale.

I buy the largest size 11.6 oz and while it's intended for dogs and has a dog on the package, I just don't show that to the girls. And if you buy 6, the price is cheaper and you get free shipping.

YEs Mike, the only difference is the size of the bag and the picture on the bag and yes the size of the pieces.

As I only buy the chicken, it's soft and easy to break into smaller sizes if needed.

If you read the ingredient it is the same for cat or dog. and it is only one ingredient chicken, nothing else.

And I'll go you one further - I've even eaten it and guess what.....it tastes just like chicken!

I did note that halo live a littles - which also makes this, but is more $$ is creamier in texture and more money. But chicken is chicken.

No, I haven't tasted the other flavors.

I use to purchase the beef flavor, but I found the pieces are super hard and my girls weren't eating it as enthusiastically as the chicken, so I just buy the chicken.

It's funny that there is such a huge price difference between what is the SAME product. The dog treats are half the price! Oh well, I'm set for a while with over three small bags of chicken.

Cats + Birds = :-D
