Here's my experience with it: I've had two of them implanted on my Ruby, once before I started home BG testing to do a curve and once a few weeks ago when I was getting very frustrated with pricking Ruby (I've since figured out the proper technique--YAY!). The convenience of being able to scan her sensor was really great, and having 24 hours of data presented in the form of line graphs was helpful as well to understand the shape of Ruby's curves vis à vis the timing of her shots and feedings. I could also see what was happening at night while I was sleeping and couldn't test. However, the presence of the sensor really bothered Ruby. The first one lasted 8 days and then Ruby scratched it off, and the second one was poorly placed and made her so uncomfortable that she barely left the bed during the 4 days she had it on. You can see the results of my scans of Ruby's Libres on my spreadsheet. Between the stress of taking Ruby to the vet to implant it, the cost, and the irritation it caused her, I didn't find the convenience and data to outweigh the negatives. Your cat may not mind it at all, in which case this might be a great solution for you. ECID. Please let us know if you do go ahead with it and keep us posted on your experiences!
