Hello! My name is LeeAnn and my kitty, Freckles, was diagnosed with diabetes last week. We should be starting insulin tomorrow. We changed over to canned food with low carb % last week. I believe her numbers were in the mid 500s, which seems incredibly high, but her only symptom was weight loss. I've already read a ton and am grateful to have this forum available for help and advice.

Well, we survived the first BG test and insulin shot. Her glucose level was 267. Much better than the 500 something from the vet's blood test! It looks like changing her to low carb canned food has had a positive effect.

Welcome! I've also read here that cats can test higher in stressful situations....like a vet's office. So maybe that contributed, but with such a huge swing, I'm sure that wasn't it alone. Getting the food transition done is a good first step - hope it went over well with Freckles!
