Just wanted to give you an update.

After his 2nd bout of pancreatitis, he is doing fine and I am now totally prepared to get him thru the next one, which hopefully wont happen any time too soon.

We have been using BD Utlra-Fine 11 3/10cc, 5/16", 31 quage syringes w/ half unit markings and had been ordering from Hocks. Its been a while since we needed to order.

I tried ordering from Hocks.com and recieve this prompt

"This product requires prescription to ship to Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and New York. We currently do not have required licenses to ship to those states. Please visit HealthWarehouse.com to purchase this item. Please visit HealthWarehouse.com to buy this product."

I dont have a problem getting a script from my vet. Will be dropping by his office (I owe him money from Frankies last visit, so what else is new?) later today to ask if he can order these for me.

Went to HealthWarehouse and they dont carry this syringe

Do you know where I cand order these syringes from
BD Ultra-Fine 11
3/10 CC for 30 units or less (1/2 unit markings)
5/16" (8mm) length needle
31 Guage needle
U100

Good morning! ADW carries these syringes in both single boxes and in cases of 5. If you've not ordered with ADW in the past, here are some tips:

1. Link through a cashback site like Mr. Rebates for cash back of around 4%. If you're regularly ordering testing supplies, it really adds up!

2. Use google for coupon codes... you can often find ones of 5%+. also sign up for their email alerts... they generally email out a special code every 1-2 months.

3. The site offers pretty reasonable shipping rates, but ships for free on orders over $100. If you need to get to $100, they also carry test strips, lancets, etc. They have some very inexpensive lancets and a diabetes diary that are great small filler items to get you to the $100 mark.

Hope that helps!

ADW only has BD insulin syringes in boxes of 90, not the typical box of 100. Hocks.com sells the box of 100. Just an FYI  Big price difference, too: $18.99 for 90 insulin syringes at ADW vs $29.99 for 100 insulin syringes at Hocks.

Have you thought about using a different brand of insulin syringes? Here are some at ADW that have the exact same specs as the BD ones you are using:

Monoject 3/10 cc 31 gauge 5/16 inch half unit markings
SureComfort 3/10 cc 31 guage 5/16 inch half unit markings
Terumo Thinpro 3/10 cc 31 gauge 3/8 inch - May have half unit markings?? According to the Terumo Thinpro info sheet, product #SS30M3109 has half unit markings. The ADW Sku number matches this. Call ADW to check.

There are half unit marked insulin syringes that are 30 gauge and in either 5/16 inch or 1/2 inch. Most cats can't tell the minute difference between 30 and 31 guage.

Is there a Wal Mart near you? Many people use the Relion brand of insulin syringes from Wal Mart. The 3/10 cc 31 gauge have half unit markings. A prescription may be required.

Good Morning Jay,

Glad you and Frankie are doing well.

I needed insulin syringes for Alex as well so when I read this I went on to Hocks and placed an order without any Rx and had no problem. It went right through. I wonder if it's because I placed one less than 6 months ago? That shouldn't have anything to do with Rx requirements for New Jersey should it?

Strange....

Nice to see you. Scritches to Frankie

PS the orders DO ship from Health Warehouse in their own boxes. Things have changed THAT much I know.

i order from ADW and i'm pretty sure the box says Health Warehouse on it - so i suspect they are connected. i use the Terumo syringes from Medivet that don't have 1/2 unit markings - and even though they don't have those markings (punkin's on a high dose with his acromegaly) i absolutely LOVE those syringes. the terumos glide when you push the plunger, there is zero resistance.

my only other experience is with the monojects, so can't speak to comparing them with BD's. the monoject action when you push in the plunger is much "stickier" than the terumos.

.

And I LOVE Monoject..so go figure. I like that I can't accidentally hit the plunger before the needle is in due to that tiny bit of resistance.

However, I still don't understand why there was any issue ordering without a prescription....and where did Jay go after asking a question?

Beats me as to= why there was an issue.

I went to my vet "Jay@ Maywood Vet" and asked his Vet tech to order thsoe syringes for me and to pick up dulpicate Subq drip rig, pain medx for his CP and additional pre measured B12 shots for him.

He is, at least since I got him out of the Vet's two weeks ago or so. Every day is a bit of a surprise, (will he eat, will he throw up, will he need fluids, will he be very high BG wise, will he have another attack) yet every day is a gift.

Hopefully he keeps his dinner down, and the dose I gave him brings him down and we wake up tomorrow morning to do this all over again.

How are your guys

They both have issues. Jackson has a heart problem now, following in the footsteps of Alex and Alex is veryyyyy chubby. But like at your house there is usually something going on..... :YMSIGH: This is hard on me having just lost my mom...but I am a fierce mama bear ;-)
