If you have a cat like mine who will stand up and "fire hose" the laundry room if he thinks you are looking at him in the box, you need this litterbox I found at Petco. It's called CleverCat, its' basically a heavy duty tub with a hole in the lid (for you handy types). I have a liner inside and I've even covered the lid except for the hole with a plastic grocery bag. It didn't take any time at all for him to figure it out, I left the lid off overnight and then put it on and he goes right in the hole like he's always done it. And no more mess. My only complaint is it's a little small for an above average size cat, in which case you might need to fabricate your own out of a larger plastic tub.

Not so easy for checking ketones, but definitely neater.

Hi guys!

I use Rubbermaid (and cheaper) tubs - the best ones have smooth bottoms (easier to scoop), but if you're using a liner, you're good. My neighbor has a Rubbermaid that he uses with the lid on. He cut about a 5-6" circle out of the top, and when his cats jump out, they "cover" all the litter on top of the lid back into the hole! I've got some "large economy-sized" boys too, that might have difficulty, but as long as there's an assortment of boxes to choose from, everyone should find one they like!

Since trying a food change, Grayson's poops aren't all big and normal... and he keeps sticking his butt over the edge of the 8" tall dish pan that he prefers. I think it's time to buy him a tub and cut a hole into the side so he can walk in, yet no opportunity for him to hang over the edge! Ahhh.... you gotta love food changes!

I've never heard the "fire hose" expression  to describe this, but you've hit the nail on the head!!! That's exactly what it's like!!! ;-)
