Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12503

Before I went to bed last night, I gave her some more grilled Fancy Feast topped with my feral's Friskies Signature Blend dry food. She also had a little bowl of Before Grain dry food with some Signature Blend mixed in to nibble through what was left of the night. By this morning, she'd picked out all the Signature Blend that was in the Before Grain and eaten it all off the top of the wet food. :( Since this is all she'll eat, I wonder if I should give her another drop of insulin, raising her dose to 0.2U

Her vet appointment is this afternoon, and I'm going to get some Forti-Flora for her. Maybe she'll like that as much as the Signature Blend.

Wow Missy, she's hard to figure out. Gonna go see if there is a vet report from yesterday.

Re: Foster Cat Kitty: PMPS 454, Vet Visit

This Kitty had a very stressful day today. A two-hour round trip ride and a two-hour vet visit. She liked the vet, but she's not feeling very purry these days. X-rays showed that she's very constipated, and she has disc disease. The vet said sometimes cats with back problems would rather not poop than deal with the pain of lifting their tails, so that could be why Kitty's so constipated. She's on injectable Adequan for her back, and I hope it will help her very soon.

The vet asked me how I managed to measure .01 units. Good question... I decided there's probably very little difference between my version of .01 units and .05, so I gave her .05 tonight. As long as she's getting Friskies dry food on top of her Fancy Feast, she probably needs a bit more insulin. I got FortiFlora from the vet, but Kitty doesn't like it. So tonight, I mixed Miralax and a lot of water with her food and put some yummy Friskies on top. She ate a little bit of it.

Oh boy poor Kitty :(. Back problems in a cat.. and constipation.. ugh.. I can't even imagine how rotten she must feel.. did they give anything for the constipation or did they help it along at all?

I hope she feels better soon.

Oh and what did they say about teeth?

The vet said to mix some Miralax in her food. I could have figured that out myself, but I wanted to make sure it was constipation, not something horrible, and the vet wasn't sure herself until she looked at the x-rays. So I put some Miralax in her food and gave her some Adequan, and she's a different cat. She's purring again, and she looks very happy and comfortable in her bed in the bathtub.

Maybe slipped discs aren't as uncommon in cats as we think. I had a cat with a problem very similar to Kitty's. He was fine as long as he got his monthly acupuncture treatments. A slipped disc is very hard for humans. Imagine how it must feel for a cat.:(

Wow can the Adequan work that quick? I guess I've only read about it used in arthritis.. and it can take a while to make things feel better I think?

Hope it's that quick.. and that she keeps feeling better. I thought about Kitty when I did Nova's PM+3 test.. Nova decided she wanted me to test in the bathtub.. she has a variety of spots she prefers to be tested in, the bathtub is one, if she "picks" she's a lot happier with the whole experience.. she's the same with her shots.. she doesn't care about the pokes.. but she *really* hates to be told what to do.. so if it's "her idea", things go much smoother..

Anyways :).. so her and I sat in the bathtub together.. hanging out and talking.. I told her all about Kitty, who also likes bathtubs.. Nova meowed approvingly ;).

I've never met a torti who appreciates being told what to do. Tell Nova torties are my favorites, and I think she should have a cat bed in her tub.

Yeah most cats don't like to be bossed around.. but I've had 2 torties.. and both took being a "cat" to a WHOLE new level :).. she's a really good cat though.

Nova likes to sleep in the sink or bathtub.. if I put beds in them, it annoys her.. cold, dark and uncomfortable sleeping places are generally her preference.. if she does sleep somewhere "comfy" she typically does it with her body contorted into some uncomfortable looking position or with her legs in the air.

Nova says: "of course torties are your favourite".. I thought about making up something nice.. but since you know torties.. you would see right through it! :).

I've had two torties, too. Trista's a tortico (tortoiseshell and calico). She gives new meaning to the word attitude, or "cattitude."
