Hi everyone.

Jackson recently started throwing up every few days. He had an ultrasound a few months ago that showed inflammation in his organs, so my vet recommended I get him onto the Hill's food sensitivities dry food. He did fine with that, and the issue seemed to resolve. Then I got him off kibble completely and switched over to high-protein mostly salmon canned to try to get him into remission. But the vomiting has started up again. (I've read that fish and beef are often triggers, and he doesn't like poultry.)

I've switched him to Hill's canned and dry. It's high-carb, I realize. (Sigh.) The problem is, he doesn't seem to like the Hill's canned. (He loves the dry.) Any recommendations for other wet food you've used if your cat has food sensitivities but won't eat Hill's?

I would try other novel proteins. ZiwiPeak has a venison and a rabbit and lamb flavor. There are other companies who have venison or rabbit. If you take a look on the Chewy's website, you can filter the foods based on the protein. That will give you an idea of the options.

One thing to also consider. Some cats have GI issues if the food contains carrageenan or gums (e.g., guar gum). ZiwiPeak does not have those ingredients.

A raw food diet may also be a possibility. That way, you have a great deal of control over what you're cat is eating. I can get ground pork, venison, or bison at my local Whole Foods. I use a pre-mix (it's a powder that's mixed with water and added to the raw food) that contains all of the supplements needed to ensure that the food is a nutritionally complete diet.

But don't just trust the protein listed in the name. More foods than not call it one flavor, but it really has a mix of other meats and organs and oils in it.
Read each label carefully to see what they are really selling you.
Don't trust that just because it's expensive, it is what it says in the title.
(I have a chicken-allergic cat, you'd be surprised how many flavors claim to be beef or venison or rabbit or whatever, but actually have a load of chicken in them as well. I also have a fish-allergic cat, and dang it, so many foods throw fish oil into their mix, sometimes waaaay down the list, but if this cat gets even a tiny amount of fish or fish oil, he gets diarrhea and the stench, omg, we have to leave the house!)

I would only use food labeled as LID (Limited Ingredient Diet). THey come with both canned and dry and have different proteins like rabbit, venison and others too. A lot of them may be relatively high or high carb. As already stated, a lot of the regular, commercial foods contain fish and or poultry even it the the title is like Beef. If like Beef is in the title beef has to be the major meat in thr food. Alot of titles say like Beef flavored which usually means beef is not the major meet.
