hi again all,

Been trying to get little’s diet under control since she has been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. I’ve been on the CKD website and there is a lot of good information there

The complete change of diet has definitely thrown her off and on Tanya’s chart for CKD they have Kirkland signature pate turkey recipe with phosphorus of 172 and only one carb. I am using this as a supplemental treat to keep her calories up because the weruva WX cans that she likes or not enough calories.- they also don’t fit can covers and are pretty $$
It doesn’t seem that Costco makers of the Kirkland brand sell just the turkey pate. It comes in a case with chicken and salmon. Can anybody tell me how to go about getting the phosphorus for both of those flavors? I asked the question on the CKD website and did not get a response. Thought maybe you guys would know. I’m assuming I have to call the company but I need to know the right questions to ask. Thank you in advance. Xoxox

Maybe this will help? I asked chatgpt.

Costco’s Kirkland Signature cat foods are made by Diamond Pet Foods.

Diamond keeps full nutrient profiles, including phosphorus % as-fed, DM, and mg/100 kcal, but they do not publish them publicly.

How to request phosphorus values:

Email:
What to say:

“I need the full nutrient profile (including phosphorus % as-fed and dry matter) for Kirkland Signature __________ (specific formula). This is for a cat with medical dietary needs.”

Diamond is usually responsive and will provide a full nutrient profile PDF or email.

Thank you so much for this.

Based on these values the calculation of the phos to DMB would be

0.95 for the turkey -which is pretty close to what’s on the sheet

1.15 for the chicken making it so where in the mid 200s if I compare that with others in the chart -(does that make sense )

And the salmon in at 1.7 DMB which is basically off the chart.

Does that seem correct to yall?

I gave that a shot too! Thank you for looking into that. I really love all you guys

More information on calculating %calories from carbs, which is what we want: Calculating % Calories from Carbohydrates
I am working on calculating phosphorus on DMB. Are you saying the same calculation applies? Basically I’ve taken the moisture -% subtracted that from 100% to get actual dry matter, then taken the phos % as fed and divided it by the dry matter. That calculator was posted in another thread and seemed to work when compared with values already established.

Just popping in to say I like that company, Diamond Pet foods. I had 3 cats with urinary issues, and I put them all on their Urinary food to see GREAT results when nothing else helped.
Their problems were, monthly uri's from one, occasional enough crystals in his tract (1 time had him in the hospital for 3days), and another that had gotten stones that had to be removed surgically. I was told find a food to help, even though they were on rx foods the vet gave.
Mine were on this Urinary food for 2yrs, till someone told me they shouldn't be on that forever. Anyhow, it broke the cycle for every one of them, and each never had any of those problems again.
Sorry for the rant, but just wanted to toss it out there that they really seem like a good, caring company. I had emailed them many times in choosing.
Good luck!
