Needless to say, he wants their food, they want his!! I want as much damage limitation if they get onto each others food. (I'm in uk so these are brands available here)

Angel has a mixture of the Purina dm wet (which I won't let kittens near) and the low carb versions of gourmet gold, bozita and Smila. I''ve now switched the kittens onto Smila kitten, can anyone work out the carb content as I'm stumped? If I add percentages up I get over 100 of other stuff, aaargh http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cann ... omposition I do give them some of the adult low carb as well but Shakira is a bit small for her age.

At least if the Smila kitten is low carb I can chill about Angel eating it. He got into their Hills Kitten last night and tested 7.5/135 on alphatrak, higher than he's been for ages.

I'll have a look for you, Cassandra.

ETA:

I've checked the chicken and the veal flavours of Smilia Kitten. They're both 1% carbs as fed, 0.7% kcals from carbs (DMB).

(I wish they wouldn't lump the calcium and phosphorus percentages in with the other analysis figures - it confuses the Hezmana out of me. )

If you wouldn't mind, could you post a review of the Smilia Kitten Chicken if you try it? I'm trying to find a maintenance food for Saoirse and she needs something that doesn't smell very strong that's easy to digest.

Thanks, that's great. Same as the Purina then. Mine seem to like the Smilla kitten chicken, they certainly prefer it to the other kitten food. Has she tried the low carb Smilla and Bozita adult? It's a similar texture. xx

HI Cassandra,

Saoirse was on the Bozita Sensitive Diet & Stomach formula before her pancreas flared up. It's not the lowest in carbs but she seemed to like it and it seemed to agree with her tummy. Unfortunately her GI tract has become super-sensitive and I need to feed her something very bland. I tried giving her tiny little tastes of some relatively mild chicken-based quality commercial low carb foods, but they all seem too rich for her and she meatloafs.

Hi hope you mind but I hadn't seen the Smilla food before. Could someone work out the percentage of calories from protein etc.

Remi needs low fat, grain free food, low allergen food. I have got some thrive but still on the lookout for something that might be better.

Hi,

Regarding carb %'s there's a UK list of cat foods (maintained by UK member Juliet) here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... mWmc#gid=1
There are some Smilla foods listed (No's 88 - 95 on the list).
(Sorry, I couldn't do the calculation from the page you'd linked to because I couldn't see the 'analysis' figures on my screen. Maybe I was being a bit thick.....or am in need of coffee....(or both... ))

You may find this nifty online calculator helpful when weighing up whether foods may be suitable for Remi. You just enter the 'analysis' figures from the can/pouch label and the percentages of protein, fat, carb etc are worked out for you.
http://fnae.org/carbcalorie.html

Did I also read somewhere that you're looking for single protein foods..?

It's not you, Cassandra. ;-)
Some of the German food labelling is still slightly eccentric and the analysis %'s do occasionally add up to more than 100%!
