Pudden has been food controlled since February. About a month ago I got a 118 reading which isn't awful, but not normal for her. I checked her an hour later and she was back under 100. It hadn't happened again until today.

I checked her about an hour ago and she was 145! I am going to check her again soon. She could have got in to the dog food, but after checking on here I saw the threads about fancy feast.

Could this be the cause? I really can't deal with her coming out of remission right now as I am dirt poor at the moment.

I only have fancy feast in the cupboard and am now afraid to give it to her. She is nagging me for food as I am typing this. Can anyone suggest an alternative that won't be too much more expensive?

My Squallie's bg started going up while he was on FF Turkey and Giblets and I switched him to Purina Pro Plan True Nature. It's only a few $$ more than the FF and his bg has gone down steadily since the switch!

I also feed nine lives ground pate and Friskies pate along with fancy feast. nine lives and Friskies is actually cheaper than fancy feast. I also give him weruva on occasion, it has no carrageenan in it which can cause inflammation

Are there specific flavors you guys stick too for the 9 lives ground pate, friskies pate and Purina Pro Plan True Nature or are they all safe? I was thinking of getting her some wellness since I remember that being safe, but I don't which flavors either. I just checked her again and she is 128. Normally she is in the 80s or 90s sometimes even the 70s. I am panicking as her insulin has expired and I have no way to buy it. Are any of the fancy feasts still safe because I have nothing to give her for breakfast.

Thank you everyone!

Smoky likes the super supper nine lives and egg and cheese Friskies.

Check out Dr Lisa Pierson's food charts at catinfo.org They have the carb count for canned and raw diets. I just look for carbs under 10%. Plain chicken and plain turkey are usually good bets.

Well I just checked her again and she is back up to 145 and with no food too. I changed the battery on the meter and still 145. I don't understand how she could go from 83 t0 145 in a week. She acts normal, and actually seems more active then usual.

The Fancy Feast classics should be fine to feed her. I give smoky that and the chunky turkey feast and chunky chopped grill feast.

Oops, I'm sorry, I haven't updated my account since February. She has been off the steroids since November of last year when she was first diagnosed with diabetes.

I fed her the FF beef last night and checked her this morning. She was 116. So she is going down now. My mother was feeding her Turkey giblets these past few days and I wonder if that was the cause for her BG rise too.

She loves FF and I hate to switch her to something else. but this is all such a weird coincidence.

She has watery eyes and has been sneezing, but I chalked that up to her allergies. She had the same symptoms last year, but was on insulin, so I have no idea if it was affecting her numbers.

I alternate between Fancy Feast, Friskies, and Nine Lives most of the time. once in a while I give him Weruva, Pro Plan, or Wellness just for something different.
