We had a visit to the vet today and we have been talking about trying to control the diarrhoea caused by the IBD by switching to Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Moderate calorie dry. We are now on Purina MD Diabetes, dry also. I know dry is no good but his IBD is acting up a lot since off the pred, we managed a while on the purine but now diarrhoea is been getting worse and the only food that always stabilised him and he always liked is The gastro intestinal from RC.
He gets very loose stools from wet food so, right now, not an option. It is either between steroids again (which I really dont want, also, they triggered the diabetes) and this food.
Problem with this food is that it has more calories so he will eat less (he is already always hungry) and also, it has more carbs. The vet said for that wed have to up the dose when we see how much it rises... I wouldnt like that either but with steroids, wed still have to up the dose.
We are still regulating and, in part, I think it is because of his flareups and with gastrointestinal I remember being able to have a much better control at handling his IBD.
Im not sure if anyone can advice me on it, or if this is the right place for this, but Id really use a second opinion. Thank you!
