Today will be Sinatra's first follow up after dx. Only in the last 2-3 days have his numbers start to make me breathe a sigh of some relief. I was beginning to think his numbers would just never go down.

Yesterday - 140 scared me. My daughter and I decided to use instinct and dial back his dose just a tad from 2 to 1.75. At dinner he got his normal 2.0, however.

But could that tiny difference have caused this morning's jump back to 529?

Also - do we find that having to do multiple sticks to get a bg causes the number to be higher?

I would suspect my vet may encourage us to jump to 2.5 today (since he wanted us to START sinatra on 3 in the first place. He's been at 2.0 almost 13 full days. I don't feel great about that with his numbers going down to 92, 84 and 140. My brain hurts.

Hi Gabrielle,

The jump in numbers is probably not due to the 1.75 unit shot, but the fact that a) Sinatra went to 84 yesterday, a number lower than his body is used to, or b) possibly he went even lower last night when there were no tests. That 529 is a bounce, and he will come down but you do need to watch him to make sure he does not drop too low again. Lantus is dosed by how low it takes the cat in order to keep it safe. That's why getting more tests in during the day will help us help you more. Now that you're all set up with a signature, spreadsheet, and are testing, you should ask for dosing advice on the Lantus forum every 7 days after starting a new dose since you're following SLGS.

Multiple pokes to the ears will probably annoy Sinatra ;) but it won't affect his glucose levels.

Did you give him a shot this morning? Your spreadsheet is blank in the AMPS column.
