I have a question about how much insulin to give. Should I adjust the amount of insulin I give him dependiing on his readings? Example 200-300 1 unit, 300-400 1.50, over 500 2 units. This is what I have been doing and his readings are so different. I cannot seem to get them regulated.

Can you get some numbers in the middle of the cycle - around 4-6 hours after the shot?

His numbers are seemingly high. BUT, if he is going low in the middle of the cycle, then the high numbers can be bouncing back from the low ones.

Without knowing that, we don't know whether to suggest increasing the dose or decreasing. If you increase and he is going low, you are setting yourself up for a hypo. If he is generally flat and high all through the cycle, then increasing by .25 would make sense.

I also saw your post on Health. Have you tried any of the Friskies flavors of wet lo carb? Have you tried FortiFlora? It is the same stuff that makes cats so crazy about the dry. Have you seen Dr. Lisa's tips on transitioning: http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FEEDING%20Y ... -12-10.pdf She has some great ideas.

Sue really helped me in the beginning when I was trying to figure out Max's dose on PZI. Knowledge is power, so if you can do as Sue suggested and grab some mid-cycle numbers, that would help as we look at how the PZI is working on Fluffy. Every kitty reacts differently to the insulin, so it's a learning process. I'm gone during the day at work so couldn't test like some of the others on the forum, but I would try for a +3 or +4 after the evening shot after work.
