Flowers and Food: A Memorial for Stu 10.5.2010

To all my LL buddies: today is a special day - Stu comes home today, to his final resting place in his garden. I am going, to celebrate our friend, and bring him flowers. All kitties are welcome to join me. My bean said I could open a condo just for Stu, so we could all share our memories, and celebrate our friend one last time.

My bean said I could remember him well too by adding all the things we remember most about Stu in this condo - we all loved him so much, and miss him too! So Stu - for you: A Toast for Chef Stu

I will cook today, well try to anyways. We will have all the things that Stu loved to eat. Boy I tell ya, those catmint parfaits are so hard to duplicate, but I think I have it figured out. Stu asked me to carry on his cheffing duties, so I will try. We spent so many hours perfecting recipes that well, I hope I have it down. I hope too see all LL kitties there. Please feel free to remember anything and everything for Stu here to in this condo.

Stu, my memory today of you: Camp Stu! I loved the week we spent on your porch, just watching the birds fly by, the loons in the lake, and munchin' away on freeze dried shrimp. We put together so many new recipe that days... Luv you always... ~~~~ Mannie

I didn't have the extreme privilege and honor of knowing you long, Stu, but your feast at the Full Moon party this year and the great grillin' at the beach will always stay in my mind. You had such a great flair as you were cooking and your recipes were wonderful; your gentle soul will always be remembered and we will miss you. Everyone in LL celebrates you today, Stu. One of my dearest friends, a friend who took most of the photos of Gabby & Gizmo that are in my signature, took photos of the Dale Chilhuly glass exhibit that was in an arboretum here in Chicago. It is a beautiful and serene place, much like I envision Stu would enjoy. In this section, there is a koi pond with beautiful overgrown plants and flowers and, at the time of the exhibit, exquisite hand crafted glass bubbles floating on the pond. Here's to raising a glass and a spatula to Chef Stu!!

Stu - You has one of da biggest hearts of any kitty I know. Thank you for welcoming me into da groups and making me feel so lubed. You is da greatest chef eber - after eating your cooking, how can anyone blame me for not wanting dat stuff in da canz? I will always 'member you and dat chicken soups you guys brought me when I waz feeling bads. Oh, and da full moon dances at the parties! You and Mannie were so great! I will remember Stu's great zest for living, partying, and grilling. He is definitely missed around here.

Mocha wants to say that Stu always made her feel welcome and always encouraged her to eat (not that she needs much encouraging!) But that his food was magnificent and she always looked forward not only to his creativity in the kitchen, but his sweet soul that made mocha feel right at home ....

Our fond memories of Stu will always be with us. I remember the stories of him loving his mouse that was made by Ella's friend. And I remember Stu being approached by deer in his backyard. And I especially remember Stu and his catmint and all of his wonderful culinary delights. Blackie will be bringing catmint flowers to the memorial for his buddy. Stu was a special kitty and will be missed by all. Ella and Edward, you were lucky to have him for he time you did and my heart goes out to you in your grief. Sending you peace and comfort.

Dear Stu, thank you for always making me feel like my tuna canapes were the most delicious thing you ever ate.
It is all I know how to make. Unlike you, who is the best chef ever. Ooh, I remember those chopped chicken liver crescent puffs. You were so clever, 'cause it was one of the moon parties, and you made 'crescent's'.
I have no flowers to bring to your memorial, 'cause it's cold here now, but you will live forever, among the flowers in your garden that you loved so much. I miss you, my friend, and will remember you fondly.

I remember how when Tuscany came to a few of the full Moon parties Stu took her aside and made sure she had a comfortable seat ( usually next to that handsome Bear Man and Latte) and made sure she didn't dance too much on her bad leg. She always came home and talked about the wonderful fuds she had - but wondered why there was no whipped cream...... I told her we had to save that for her special treat.
I hope that Tuscany was there waiting for Stu, to make him comfortable like he made her. I am sure they will have a grand time swapping stories of camp and boats.
