Hi there,

I was recently contacted at work by the gentleman who owns/started Raw Health Pet Food -- he was asking for some pricing information about my company's product/services. He gave me his name and the name of his company, and of course it piqued my interest. I mentioned that I have a diabetic kitty and have heard (read about) the many people who prefer to feed raw food to their cats -- especially if they have a sugarcat. We ended up talking for a good half hour or so, and I am curious to try this raw food, but I am currently on a SEVERELY restricted budget (ex: I drive to the ghetto-ish neighborhood to grocery shop at the scratch-and-dent grocery store, and Motska is only fed Special Kitty, because it's the cheapest). So I don't want to spend extra money on this raw food diet if it isn't going to do that much for her.

Any input or stories about this particular brand (both positive and negative) would be appreciated! And I promise that I will not relate any of this information back to him (we didn't have what he was looking for anyway, so I have no real reason to contact him again)!

They do have a website, but I won't link to it here -- I really don't want my fellow beans thinking I'm just trying to provide free advertising to this guy!

Thanks,

Kris

Hello fellow Floridian! I might even know the company you are thinking of...there are a few independent pet stores in South Florida that carry. Raw food and some Pet Smarts do also. I. Looked into it but they are very expensive. To save money, I began buying ground turkey and pork at WinnI-Dixie or Publix. My kitty doesn't have any teeth left so I grind it up further in my blender. Winn-Dixie also has frozen catfish nuggets that are five pounds for about eleven bucks. Unthaw small portions and hen grind it up in a blender or food processor. Be careful to read labels at Winn-Dixie because some of their fish comes from China. My kitty also likes boiled chicken. Put drum sticks or thighs in a pot or slow cooker and simmer until the skin starts to come off, remove the bones and cut up or grind up. If your kitty is overweight you can remove the skin. All of this is slightly time consuming but will save you a lot of money. If you live in an ethnic area, there are also some old fashion butcher shops that will grind up meat or fish for you. All of this has been taste tested by my kitties and gets a four paw rating. :-). Jan and Nomad
