Finally got my spreadsheet started and linked in...not much to go on yet since today is just the 3rd day into this adventure!

However, tested last night PM and she was 48 :shock: Tried not to panic - retested 47 There were no hypo symptoms so I feed her and retested 1.5 hours later and she was 126 Phew! It seems she is all over the place right now but maybe just getting used to the insulin. The prescribed dose of ProZinc was 1.0u but this morning she was 268 to I only gave 0.25u (see ss).

Any advice is appreciated! :dizcat

Welcome to the PZI forum, Paula and PJ. (i responded to your thread on Health also. I post regularly on both forums). We are a small, friendly group that is most active am and pm EST. if you ever have an emergency, post on Health where there will be more eyes.

It may be helpful to read some of the other posts and check their spreadsheets. You'll see they run the gamut from fairly high to tiny doses. Some people use a sliding scale; some cats seem to do better with holding a dose a few cycles.

It looks like PJ is responding and mini doses could be in her future. Many beans here use U100 needles and the conversion chart so they can dose .2 and even .1. If you are interested, someone will be able to tell you the best source and type for the 100s.

It'll be interesing to see what today brings. :mrgreen:

Thanks Sue - fortunately (or unfortunately) this isn't my first rodeo w/PJ and diabetes which was back in 2004 but only for 8 months. I'm hoping she can rebound that quickly again. I still need to pull out all my charts and info from 2004 as I can't remember what kind of numbers she had then.

As for the syringes my vet gave me a box of the U40 syringes :thumbup I saw the conversion chart but was glad to get the U40's so there would be less chance of error.

I'm still digging through the forums and plan to read up today on more posts, etc.

Thanks for the support - I don't think I could have done this back in 2004 if not for folks on this website. I also made a LOT of new "cat" friends along the way....someone mentioned Lisa and Gorb in a post and I have a magnetic photo frame on the fridge that she sent me that says "I'm sweet as sugar" w/PJ's photo in to this day! :razz:
