Hi everybody. We just administered his first PMPS test at home and it is 350. Should I proceed with his shot? I have read this is a normal range for diabetic cats on some websites. Is this accurate? If not, at what number should I not administer the insulin shot?

Sorry no one has responded. Check the Beginners Guide to Prozinc, there is usually information in the insulin specific forums that have some detail about when not to shoot, at least when you are beginning. Try to take some time and read through the guide and then other information, as you can.
I know it's a lot, with all the other new things you are doing to help Nate through the pancreatitis flare. Kind of like "dancing as fast as you can", but persevere, it will get better. With the pancreatitis treatment, Nate is going to get more comfortable, and you can take the time to become more educated.
You will most likely refer to the information there in the Prozinc forum many times. This is your basic reference material using this insulin, and a very good resource when there are no experienced Prozinc members right on hand for answers.
You've had a very rough week, I hope you and Nate have a relatively peaceful night and can get some rest. :bighug:

Thank you for getting back to me. I'm never quite sure where to post! Thank you for your kind words and help as always.

Yes, shoot. It's a normal number to see a diabetic cat in, but it's not where you want your cat to be. We tell beginners using a human meter Not to shoot below 200. (Later with more testing that may change) The range you are hoping for mid cycle is 50-120. It usually takes time for a newly diagnosed cat to get there. Below 50 is the take action number to raise the numbers back up (hypoglycemia).
