First blue number in 2 weeks!

I'm still fairly new to all this, and my kitty isn't the most cooperative when it comes to testing... but we just got our first low-ish number in two weeks! He's been very hard to regulate - the couple of "curves" I've gotten have been pretty much flat (and red!) - and his vets have been somewhat slowly raising his dose. But, we had Rocket's teeth cleaned five days ago, and today's nadir was 197!!! I know we still have a LOT of work to do, but I've been so stressed out between this, and other life/family/friend issues going on, that seeing that blue was very comforting. I even rechecked half an hour later, and it was 199. Yay! Thanks for reading - I just wanted to share some good news. I had been worried that we may even be heading toward testing for acro or IAA, but maybe it was his teeth and gums causing problems. I'm cautiously hoping our numbers will stay good for a while... now the real sugar dance begins. Thanks to all of you for being such a great community! :bighug:

Rocket's gums were a little infected, which the vet seems to have cleared up... would love to start brushing his teeth as part of a routine, but in this case he really needed the office dental. How is the brushing going for you? I don't know that my cat would take it very well. :nailbiting:

My cat had a dental cleaning at the shelter, but his gums still look a little red. The vet mentioned stomatitis, a really terrible autoimmune problem, and I got scared.
The brushing has been a process, every time he lets me brush him a little more. He was drooling at the shelter and now he’s stopped. Not sure if it’s connected, but it might be.

Brushing is something I really wish I had started when Rocket was a little guy. Better late than never, right? And what a great thing you have done by adopting sweet Jackson! I wish you all the best. :bighug:
