Alex has been on ProZinc for just a few days and I tested just now and got 10.1 (182), which is the first time it's been low and that seems exciting, but I'm noticing that he's a little shaky on his walk (swaying a bit instead of walking in a straight line) and has a bit of a wobble on one of his front paws. One of the back ones has been weak for a little bit, and that's probably neuropathy but will hopefully get better.

He's drinking and peeing and I just gave him a little bit of food at +6 to tide him over until shot time, which he ate well so I don't think it's hypo, but does anyone have experience with this? My mom has diabetes herself and said that when she was first diagnosed and started taking medication hitting "normal" sugar levels made her feel terrible. Has anyone else noticed cats when they're first starting out just seem like they're feeling awful during the low points?

That 10.1 is a very nice number for so early in the game. It's a very safe number so no need to worry about a hypo. Those symptoms are likely related to neuropathy. Good control of BG will help and giving a B12 supplement is a good idea. The methylcobalamin version of B12 is best.

Yes, many kitties feel unwell when BG is in better levels in the early days. That improves with time as the body adjusts.
