Fiona throwing up, BG down to 31

Hiya Lantus Land, it's been a looong time since we've posted. Most of you won't know us. Brief summary - Fiona has IAA and has wacky insulin needs. We call her Princess Enigma. Please don't worry about the dosing, it's not worth the time trying to explain Fiona and her insulin needs.

Fiona is always VERY good about eating. She hasn't been eating today. She even turned down KFC. Earlier I syringed Karo syrup and high carb gravy into her. When she was at BG31 several hours later, I syringed fed her another can of high carb which she threw up about half an hour later.

I've given her a cc of reglan twice today. I'm going to get some cerenia from another location when I'm done with this post.

Suggestions? No point in putting in more high carb if she's going to return it right away. Don't suppose there is anything I would have at home to inject? Can you SubQ sugar water? I have lactated ringers on hand. Anything to avoid putting something up her butt. I value my life.
 
Do you have any plain vanilla ice cream...the real stuff? That will bring her up but it won't keep her there.

Don't give her fluids....it will drop her BG further.

I have to get to bed...early meeting tomorrow...I'll see if I can get other eyes over here for you.
 
I put the word out but not sure if anyone is up. If you can't get her to come up, she needs to go to the ER. If she won't eat something that will bring up her BG and hold it there or if she can't keep it down, please take her in so they can give her IV glucose.

You can't give sugar water subq.

You can also rub karo on her gums.....just keep doing it until she is way up but it will wear off.

I hope you can get her numbers up.
 
sorry, lost internet. Got her through the night. Cerenia seemed to help no more upchucks and I was able to syringe more HC. Took her to the vet this am w/BG of 35. I asked and figured they'd put her on a dextrose IV to bring her up. sigh. I got the stupid vet. She syringed more food into her which has stayed down and her BG was 65 at last test. It should go up from there, no insulin for +24 now and she only got a half a dose yesterday am. That mega shed of hers should also be empty. They are now going to IV her and we'll run a CBC to see if we can figure out why she quit eating.

So glad to hear her BG is up and food is staying down. I was freaking out today wondering how she was doing. (((Sharyn)))
