And it may be too soon to tell. I started yesterday morning, by giving him only 1 unit no matter what his number was. Here are the results so far:

11/26 – 335 @ 7 a.m.; 1 unit
11/26 – 233 @ 9 a.m.
11/26 – 224 @ 5 p.m.; 1 unit
11/26 – 134 @8 p.m.
11/27 – 343 @ 3:00 a.m.; 1 unit
11/27 – 142 @11 a.m.

Right now, I’m not seeing the 500’s at pre-shot and the low numbers 7 hours later. So, maybe, just maybe, I’ve been giving him too much insulin all along, and causing the roller coaster…

So, instead of seeing black, red, pink, and some yellow, I’m seeing more pink, yellow, and some blue.

Fantastic! Some cats certainly do better holding a dose. Great improvement over his roller coaster rides previously.

Re: Fingers crossed, I may have hit on Chuck's "sweet spot"

I have been "holding" at 1.4U forever, waiting out the roller coaster... Decided since I quit my job I'd work more on getting him at least into some good numbers consistently (plus, I think MY stress was carrying over to him). I toyed with the idea many times to INCREASE his dose to work on those 500 and "HI" readings, but then he'd drop like a rock to the almost feed the forties on that same 1.4U. So, while decreasing doesn't really make sense overall, it makes sense if that dose is causing the roller coaster effect. We'll see -- I usually get my hopes up and then Chuck throws another of his curve balls...
