Well after a week of being unable to get a single test, I have actually managed a mid cycle test this afternoon! :)

Yes it was done outside and yes, it took 30 minutes to do it but we got there.

Interestingly, it was a +6 test and he read as 11.8 mmol/L! I'm over the moon to see him drop to that after all the 20s he's had, although I do wonder if it means he might have been lower earlier in the day and I didn't know it.

Now I know that one test alone doesn't determine anything but that is the lowest number I've ever gotten. Feeling glad that I decided to stay at 1.25u at the moment, rather than up it to 1.5u. Will see if I can get lucky later and maybe get another test.

But 11.8, at 6 hours after insulin. :)

WOOT WOOT!!! BIG GOOFY YARD DANCE!!! Welcome to the Vampire Club! GOOD JOB!!! Don't get discouraged if you don't get it next time, each 'pokie' will grow additional capillaries to the area helping you get blood each time! Just keep 'doing'. I'm proud of you!!!

HUGS!

Yay! What a nice success! It's so great to get confirmation that you've done something right, isn't it? :D

You've no idea! I agonised over whether to raise his dose or not this morning but in the end I decided that the lack of testing meant it was safer to stay as we are for now. It's a massive relief to know that I made the right call. :)

Thank you so much, that means a lot! :bighug:

I will try to stay positive even if I don't manage another test for a bit. I think that Little B is probably going to be more of a sporadic tester than a regular one for now but I'll take some tests over none at all. :)

Sadly no second reading tonight as I couldn't get any blood after three attempts. He's been so unbelievably good and tolerant of the process today that I didn't want to push it. So I just gave him a few treats, lots of fuss and let him be. I'll try again tomorrow for another mid cycle test and see if he's reading as low as today's.

It might be that I can only get one test a day at the moment but if I can vary the time of those tests each day then maybe that will start to give me an idea of his cycle. Then eventually I could work up to more tests, the more comfortable he gets. Fingers crossed anyway.
