Hi, I am a fairly new member, Maggie. My sugar baby is Binky. Diagnosed November/2022, so I've been doing this a while, but for some reason, I've started questioning whether I'm filling the syringes correctly. I usually push the plunger all the way to the top and then insert into the Lantus pen and draw off what I need, but it seems like there is suction and the pen pulls some back in, causing me to need to draw off more than I need and waste some to get to the correct amount.
What am I doing wrong? I don't recall this being an issue before, but maybe i didn't notice. I don't want to put the excess amount back in the pen, someone told me that there is lubricant in the syringe that would contaminate the insulin.
Also, I thought I would look on google and see how they show drawing insulin and what that told me was to draw back on the empty syringe the amount of insulin you were going to use, and then actually draw that same amount of insulin into the syringe and then push out the air. That totally confused me.
Any comment would be helpful, thanks!
