AMPS: 355 3u skinny
+134 Which is similar to when he went down to 54, so Medium Carb food given. I think he ate about an ounce, his Civvie Brothers helped since they like the Medium Carb stuff too. I think I will be dropping back to 2.5 at least if he is sub 4oo. He is still having high numbers at the AM and PM but he seems to be reacting well to insulin.

I think that's a good plan. He drops well, but a little early and by quite a bit. In general, his numbers are definitely improving. One of the complications with a new diabetic is that it can take some time for their body to start using the insulin and food efficiently. Once they do, the numbers change and the doses need to adjust. It's hard to figure out what to shoot since it is usually based, at least partially, on the past cycles, and they are in flux.

You are doing great rolling with the punches.

It is your comfort level. You don't really need to feed anything other than regular low carb until he gets near 50. Your numbers so far are lovely - no need to bring them up.

I wanted to hold off another trip close to 50 today as I travel tomorrow. I wanted to slow the progress before he got that low today. If it wasn't for the trip I might have let it ride a bit more but not today.

Interesting the AM he was above 400. The sitter with my help gave a mostly fur shot at 3u. Tonight he was 260 on an AlphaTrac. (I figured I should give dad the uses very little blood meter even though the strips are expensive.). Gave 1u.

Well he was probably having a late nadir, this morning he was high. Dad gave 2.5u. (His request and the short trip = prefilled syringes). I told dad as long as he wasn't draining the water dish we are all good.

Fern was pretty consistent with his "Papa" (my dad). And his Papa said he was certain after day 1 he says he always got his shots in. (although he did accidentally read the meter upside down 2x not that it mattered other than giving 1u when he should have given 2.5u once, he just feaked himself out with a high number and a low number that weren't).

I got home and I should have taken a midday, I had the opportunity but didn't.

AMPS 352 3u given.

I was looking to move his PM shot up 30 minutes. (we are running late I worked late on the day before I left and I knew my Dad would appreciate not having to give a shot at 6am.) Except PMPS-30 = 113; waiting 20 minutes to retest. Fern had a decent size meal 2-2.5 hours ago as well. I will likely only give 1u if not skip if it stays low.

I think if he is 330-380 I will change his dose to 3u - a drop to see if it helps to even him out.

I don't think before bed will make much of a difference it will be at the latest +2. I'm going to bed early since I've been feeling sick myself.

Ok, shakes head. 430 this morning and 188 and rising tonight. 174 at +5 and 137 at +8. Giving a fat 1.5u. In the WTF vet column. I got a did you do a curve today e-mail. I sent back no I curved most of last weekend and did not plan on doing so today or this weekend. I could do one tomorrow but I have plans for me for once.

I don't think a curve is necessary. I didn't do one every weekend. If you have plans, keep them! It's good to do something for yourself. We tend to get caught up in treating our cats and lose ourselves.

That's an odd cycle. It looks like long cycles to me...yesterday and today.

I'd grab a before bed test if you can. Interested to see what happens with this dose.

Looks like a bounce to me. Unfortunately they bounce until they stop. He does go down quite a bit during the cycle and surfs along in blues - which is great. The hope is that he'll get used to those blues and stop bouncing up for pre shot. He does do that every so often and gives you a yellow preshot which is nice. But no continuing pattern for a possible 11/13....

This morning was at 361 so I gave 3u minus 2 drops. Tonight Fern was at 285 so I decided to go with 2u like was talked about before with that range. We shall see if I can finally start to get him to a point where he stays lower but doesn't drop too low fingers crossed.
