45 minutes ago I sprayed tom's travel box with feliway...maybe too much i don't know. Feliway is new to us.
20 minutes ago I put my head in there and sniffed around...could'nt tell how I liked the scent or anything but since sniffing around in there I have this terrible lightheaded and dizzy feeling. I don't feel safe to drive even!
WTH? Anyone ever sniff Feliway and get this reaction? I would'nt want to put Tom in this box now.
Lori

No, I have never used any calming stuff on this troublemaker, so I am no help there.
Are you taking him to the Vet? Be careful if you are high on this stuff! Get some fresh air girl! and keep us posted, I am worried 'bout u guys.

I have a plug-in but it doesn't have a scent. It's helped chill Merlin out. I've also got a calming collar on him. That does have a scent and it's really nice. My vet even commented on how great he smelled when she picked him up!

I also use the plug-in. I have noticed a slight scent, not too bad though. Maybe you over did it? Could you be reacting to the aerosol, not the actual scent? Feliway is just cat pheromones.

Tom is going to the vet tomorrow, right? If you wash the carrier down with soap and water and just let it sit overnight, maybe it will be fine for friday.

well, this is how it went down. i finally called the vet about 4ish and they said i could come in at 5:15.
i got all tom's records and my book of numbers (ya know...in case they did'nt BELIEVE me) and my purse and my ever present drinking bottle all set up in the car. I sprayed tom's box and put a whole lotta towels in there and sprayed them.
see...tom pee's and poo's in the car EVERY SINGLE TIME we go to the vet. so i gotta have LOTS of towels.
that's when i stick my head in the box and get all fuzzy and sick like.
so now i gotta call tom in from out back. like the good little soldier he is he comes trotting down the hill, oh so innocently not suspecting what lay in store.
i let him walk in thru the bedroom and .... yep...he goes straight to his (now several) bowls of food and starts eating.
i mean, some serious eatting. some kibble, over to the tuna bowl, back to the kibble, a little sardine...kibble.
is'nt THIS why we are going to the vet???????????????????///
i call and ask if we can hold off.
sure they say.
i unload the car....he is STILL eating.
story over.
until tomorow's edition.

I use feli-way plug-ins in the house, and just the other day we had a slight pee-pee problem. Then I noticed the plug-in was dry, replaced it and viola, no more outside the litterbox problems (yet). I sometimes use the spray, just a few pumps now and then if there is a spot that perhaps shouldn't be used. This stuff saved our lives when we suddenly had two high school aged kids come live with us two years ago, and the cats didn't really like this intrusion. It really seems to calm them down, and now I keep a stash so we (hopefully) don't run out.

The only other time we had a pee-pee problem was when Sebastian was first diagnosed, but now his BG levels are good and as long as the feli-way is kept up, we are a dry household. Well, maybe a little problem now and then when the kids come home from college and the cats decide we have too many people here.

I can't say enough good things about the stuff, I recommend it to friends who have problems. However, I can say I have never breathed it too much! ;-)

Hope you doing better!

Lori-

All I can say is FABULOUS! He's definitely a lil whacky but hey, if he's better we'll take it. Can't wait to hear today's update. confused_cat

Karen, I also read 'use one or two spritzes' but bein the stoooopid hooman I am, I thought 5 or 6 spritzes just to be sure ohmygod_smile and when I inhaled in a bit later it did make me extremely woozie.
Jessie and Traci, first Tom is NOT whackie dear ones....he's 'special' and you know a cat will do what he wants to do when he's darn good and ready and not a moment sooner! And as I look back, Tom has messed with my head oh so many times over the years. Early on the constant fighting with other cats, the sudden spasm and hide under bed screaming cuz he leaned on a pin till it went straight into his tummy ( a big pin), oh and the time he picked a fight with a dog while I was sick (as a dog) during chemo and I had to run outside (run? i could barely walk) bald as an eagle to break it up.
Neighbors looking over my fence and telling the very embarrassed ME that Tom NEVER backed down....so proud was I, so bald!
Oh there are plenty of stories...

This morning Tom was grooming himself in bed when I awoke. I always take that to mean he is perfectly healthy. When I came in the kitchen there was evidence of a very intense fight with the throw rug sometime during the night (it's a big throw rug and it was bunched up and twisted) but he had eatten very little of what was left out.

He did however eat all his crack. I just gave him his ff and he hungrily went for it, took 2 or 3 bites and went back in the kitchen. Always a sign he wants food.

What we have here now folks, I'm afraid, is a retread crack head......any advise?

Love y'all,
Lori

Feliway spray has an alcohol base to keep the pheromones in solution.
Always wait for the alcohol to completely evaporate before inhaling (this includes cats)!
Isopropyl alcohol is toxic when ingested, or inhaled.
