Feliway Comfort Zone Spray and Diffusers?

I've seen the feliaway comfort zone spray and diffusers mentioned in several posts on this board. If you use these products, what are the reasons you do?

I looked this product up online and see that it's supposed to help with cats scratching and urinating outside their box. We don't really have these problems with either of our cats. Thank goodness. But Ozzy does tend to be a fradey cat and has a very nervous personality in general. He is really scared of loud noises and large objects (like if I am walking in the house with my work briefcase or a box or something, it scares him and he runs off). Figgie could care less and acts like he owns the place. Ozzy also will sometimes chew sore spots on his body and we think this is due to stress. Right now he's got a good spot going between two toes on one of his hind paws. I hate seeing him do this to himself. I think he is stressed from all the DM testing and us going back to work. This started as soon as I started back to work after being home for over 2 weeks straight with them.

The kitties do have a bit of a jealously problem, over me and over their food. If ozzy is hanging with me, Figgie will get really jealous and try to push him out of the way and sometimes Ozzy does this to Figgie, too. They both steal each other's food regularly. Sometimes I will catch Figgie eating from his bowl and looking over at Ozzy's. I can sometimes tell he is seconds away from pushing Ozzy out of the way and stealing his food even though Figgie still has plenty of food in his own bowl.

So definitely some jealously issues going on over here...

Also, sometimes after Figgie's jealously trips, he tries to 'show' Ozzy he is the dominant one if you know what I mean... :oops: We are wondering if the feliaway can help with this unwanted behavior.

The majority of the time, Figgie and Ozzy are total buddies and snuggle together, play together, and in general get along well.

I see there is a comfort zone product and multi cat product. Is there a difference and if so what is it? Which product do you think would be best for the issues we are having?

We have three cats and we use the comfort zone diffuser. It helps to calm them down a lot. It has a concentration of 10% feline pheromones and I think the multi cat has 2 %. The multi cat is the one people use to prevent scratching and spraying I think. Our cats are much happier since we bought the comfort zone a week ago.
 
I use the Comfort Zone, and have for some time. I have a young male cat who really wants to be a bad*** but at heart is a sweet, timid little guy. This causes him a great deal of angst, which he expresses by acting out. The Comfort Zone plug-ins really help, a lot, and I immediately notice a difference if I run out; he is a MUCH happier cat when I am using the Comfort Zone.
 
Maybe it will work, maybe not. For us these products were limited in effect. Scoobs was an inside/outside cat. We miss him every day since he died in July. But he would mark. Then China (inside cat) would followup.

I think the products reduced the issue. But we also had to be vigilant about finding the marked spots.

There's a new diffuser over here called Feliway Friends which is supposed to help ease conflict in multi-cat households. Not sure what it would be marketed under in the US.

Jeff, I checked out Scooby's tribute page. I'm so sorry he is no longer with you. Sounds like he was an awesome little guy!! My heart goes out to you! Fly free little Scoobs!

I haven't found the spray or collars to work, but the diffuser DEFINITELY works. We can always tell, by the change in Julie's behavior of it needs replacing. She is VERY high strung. She was beat up a lot as a stray outside so she doesn't trust our other cats. When the feliway runs out she is hyper reactive to everything. (We asked the vet about putting her on meds when we took her on). The feliway takes the edge off.
 
I use Comfort Zone with Feliaway diffuser. I now have two civies - one is a scaredy cat and the other is a bit of a terror. I think it helps a lot. I buy from Amazon which is much cheaper than pet stores! I have one always plugged in in the "cat room" where their food and litter is. They also sleep in the room at night (I have allergies). The other is used in the living room when there are guests or other disruptions to keep Eric from being too stressed out.

I've also used Bach's Rescue Remedy (http://www.bachflower.com/rescue-remedy-pet/) for Erik when he goes to the vet or there is fireworks. It's an homeopathic calming remedy that I rub on his ear. I usually don't go for homeopathic stuff, but my vet suggested it and I think it takes the edge of his vet anxiety.

Wow, this is great Debby. Thanks for your feedback, especially on the Rescue Remedy, too. I think everyone's cats freak over fireworks so this is a great tip. Thank you.

Got my feliaway diffuser today. It's already plugged in. I love amazon, got it in 1 day!
