Hi everyone it's me again. I was on my computer looking up Prednisone for my mom......she has Rheumatoid Arthritis when I spotted the fact it also treats Feline Infectious Anemia. I think that is what Perkins has. Last year fleas got in the house. We don't have them now but I see the disease can cause a high Reticulocyte count which Perkins has had in the past 2 blood works. We can't decide if we should just treat him with antibiotic or take him in for blood test first. We can't take him for blood work for 2 weeks so I was thinking just give him the antibiotic doxcyclin but has anyone here given there cat this antibiotic? I am worried about side effects. Thanks

It can be related to a Bartonella infection. If the vet has prescribed an antibiotic, go ahead and use it. If not, please consult and make sure that if an antibiotic is given, you have enough for a full course.
Renal disease may cause anemia, too, so there could be that plus some other infection.

Thanks, I'll ask the vet tomorrow about the Bartonella , he didn't give us another antibiotic yet but he did take his full course of Zeniquin weeks ago.

Thanks, I hope the same for Fritz. Do you half his dose because of diarrhea?
