Hi all !
I have switched ALL my fur babies including Christopher my sugar baby to canned Friskies from all dry food as directed. They have been on wet food now for about 4 months but my worry is that Im not feeding them enough. ALL of them seem to be getting thinner. I am feedin them small meals 3-4 times a day. Between them all they are getting 4 cans a day. (3 cats) Im just not sure that this is enough food for them.
Christopher (diabetic) is 14 lbs.... Brian is 9 lbs.... and Mischief is 7 lbs. The lables on the cans are confusing to me about how much to feed them.

PLEASE help if you can.

PS...... Christophers BGC has been consistent at around 90-120 at 1/2 unit lantus twice daily

Thanks\\ Kris

And the can guidelines are a suggestion. If the cats are getting too thin, they need more food.

Check out the Cat Info section on obesity which may give you some ideas.

Also if possible can someone PLEASE tell me if these numbers for his BG are normal. I afraid to let him get too low .

90-120 BG #'s are excellent and within normal limits.

See Glucometer Notes in BJM's signature line above for guidance.

My vet seems to think that he is too low BEING on insulin. He said that they should be MUCH higher. His last curve readings (2 days ago) were 106/75/116/98/94/92. I am pretty new to this as he was just diagnosed on May 11.

and THANK YOU all so much for replying. ANY help here is GOOD help.

Your vet may be unaccustomed to folks who diligently home test and are knowledgeable about managing the feline diabetic. Older advice had vets settling for higher numbers rather than risking hypoglycemia and death.

I just saw this post, does your vet know if you're using a human meter or a an animal specific meter? Because that would certainly make a huge difference.
