Fat cats AMPS is 90 today!

Fat cats AMPS is only 209, what do I do with that ?! Pre-shoots have sometimes previously been over 450, and are almost always in the 300s, so what do I do with with 209? He usually gets just over 4 units of prozinc, should I only give him 3 or maybe even 2?

He ate his breakfast and I just gave him 2.5 units instead of 4... I have a feeling that will end up not being enough, but I didn't want to risk him getting low

Now he's + 3.5 and at 372 :-/... I had a feeling this would happen but I was nervous to give too much, maybe he just needs that 4 units to keep him right, I'll do a +6 when he should be lower, doubt it will be 148 today. As an aside I just took fat cats brother's (biscuit) blood sugar for funsies, they ate at the same time and biscuits sugar is 59, he is so lucky. :-p

Scary when they start throwing good numbers, isn't it?! Careful monitoring is the way to go, along with having a supply of higher carb gravy style wet food, etc.

Just took his sugar twice, it was 92 and then 90, what in the world do I do with that, can't give him insulin, but then when I didn't give him a usual dose yesterday morning he was in the 300s most of the day :-/, happy for a low number, but what in the world ?

Hi Elizabeth! Lower numbers are good news. I know you have a spreadsheet, I've seen it, but I don't see it now:confused:. Can you add the link to your signature?

Looks like you're nearing Fat Cat's good dose so he's throwing you all these up and down BG numbers. It's a case of tip toeing around the edges and refining that dose, Elizabeth. Crazy making but good news! :)

Now we're about +7, from the insulin that I ended up giving and he's 389, I should have just given the whole 4.2 units and not 2.5, I'll know better next time since this is the first time I got any sort of green number ...

Without seeing more midcycle numbers, it is impossible to tell, but he sure could be bouncing from lows to highs. 4.2 looks too high for the 350s to me. I am wondering if 90 was on the way down, or did he drop lower than that overnight? I'd argue your 417 could definitely be a bounce, not necessarily that you didn't give enough insulin this am.

The more data, the more you can figure out his patterns and whether the cycles are high and flat or whether there is an early or late low in there causing bounces. If you'd like help with that, we'd be glad to try but please attach your spreadsheet to your signature.
