Fancy Feast + diarrhea

Hi all,
Long time no see. Cat food question: When I adopted Sammy 3 years ago he was on a diet of Fancy Feast and he had chronic diarrhea. Infection was ruled out. I changed him over to (mostly) various varieties of EVO and the diarrhea stopped. However, he's not particularly fond of EVO so I recently switched him back to Fancy Feast (variety of flavors) and the diarrhea has returned! Is it possible an entire brand of cat food can cause diarrhea? I've downloaded Dr. Lynne's canned food list for review, but in the meantime can anyone suggest a brand that's tasty (to the cat) and easy on their digestive tract?

Thanks!
Dave

Sounds like it might be a food allergy. Which of the Evo were you feeding vs. which of the FF?

I created a sorted version of Dr. Lisa's list and separated it out by non-seafood, poultry only, and seafood (since Michelangelo is allergic to red meats), so that might be of help in narrowing down what ingredient might be causing the tummy troubles.

you may want to try a raw food diet to see if that helps.

You can make your own or purchase already prepared raw food - either frozen, freeze dried, etc.

depending on what flavors of evo and FF you are using, you may also want to try novelty proteins such as lamb, venison, duck, etc.

I rotated through a bunch of Fancy Feast flavors. I fed him the EVO from the variety pack, which contained Beef, Chicken & Turkey, Duck and Venison varieties. I didn't try the EVO Cat & Kitten food yet. I suppose it would be best to try to stick with one type of food instead of mixing them up to see which one may be the culprit.

Fancy Feast has a lot of seafood in their foods vs. Evo. Any chance you're feeding him the seafood varieties of FF? And some of them may surprise you, like the FF Chicken Feast (both chunky and classic) contains fish.
