Met the UPS man at the door, so they didn't sit outside my door. Guessing they packed the truck on Friday and they froze. Hours later, and they are still frozen. First time that has happened.

I called Purina, and they said the food in the frozen cans is safe for the cats to eat, after they're thawed, of course. Just checking the board to be sure.

Thank you hugs,

Cat, Sweet Max, and gang

Darn, didn't think about that. I just ordered 21 cases of FF from PFD. Glad to see what Purina said.

I would make sure they actually pop when you open them. The expansion of the food when freezing could break the seal on the can.

That's depending on whether the cats will eat them. Sometimes, Thomas will gobble up food from one store, other times absolutely turn his nose up on the same flavour. Someone here once suggested that possibly it had to do with how they were stored.

I also find that batches (lots) can be different, as well as which factory made it. I feed Avoderm Chicken, and the juice has a different consistency depending on the factory.

I've disposed of frozen cans of people food. I had food poisoning once (someone else's cooking), so I am extra cautious. I feel hypocritical because I'm feeding my cats cans that were frozen.

Just as I feel hypocritical when I take dented cans to the shelter.

Hugs and Healing,
Cat, Sweet Max, and gang
