Hello.

Silvester is having lot of discharge from right eye. He's had not as much discharge prior to this week for more than a year. He had it from both eyes as well, but more from the right one. Vet said it could allergy to many things. Now it is more severe from the right eye, there is pus, and the white skin surrounding the eyeball is red, not sure what it is called. Discharge is more clear than it used to be, but still brown when it dries. There is some hard matter after it dries, leaves brown marks on cloth when cleaned.

Is it possible that allergy affects one eye?

I will take Silvester to vet anyway, possibly today, if the the doc is available.

Thank you.

I would definitely get it checked out. If it was just clear, watery discharge I would think allergies. When pus it's involved it most likely is an infection.
Chuck gets allergies and clear runny eye discharge in mostly one eye.

My cat Allie just had to go to the vet for that. She got a prescription for eye drops. Vet thinks a scratch got infected.

One of my cats had a bad infection add a little kitten and now always has drip eyes from year duct damage. The discharge dries as brown gunk. I just wipe it with a damp paper towel.

my cat has it in one eye 90% of the time and we think it is environment allergy related. it would too end up getting pus/infection from time to time, probably from her pawing her eye. The antibiotic eye drops vet gives for it are worthless, ask for 'Terramycin Opthalmic ointment' instead if your cat does have an eye infection (or you can pick it up or order it from tractor supply which will be cheaper) . it works a lot better on allergy related eye infections IMO! Also great as stopping an infection from occurring when you see the signs, when i see my cat's eye start watering a lot or start showing clear like mucus, i put a dab along her lower eyelid and corner once a day for two days and it stops an infection from occuring and clears up whatever is making her eye water/crust up within them 2 days. great stuff to have on hand for those with cats that have regular eye issues IMO.

I agree eye ointment is in our (ear growing) just in case medical cat box :)
usually clears up fast unless underlying issue.

Only 1 thing to consider... if it is a scratch you don't want to use the one with a steroid. If just inflamed the regular AB ointment is harmless and will most likely help quickly.

The steroid can make a scratch worse. (The white tube is usually the one without steroid.)
