Eye color change

This is going to sound strange but has anyone’s cat’s eyes changed color? Methos’ changed after his major illness/tumor diagnosis but before his diabetes (although I’m sure he was running high normal, just sub-diabetes at the time). It’s not cataracts —his corneas are clear. His vision doesn’t seem to have changed: he’s always had bad near vision even for a cat but he does just fine catching moths and praying mantis —although sometimes it seems like he doesn’t see the food in his dish as well as he used to or he’s trying to see if something is near by but isn’t sure.
But the color has changed. He had apple green eyes but since his illness they’ve been gold. I thought it was the hospital lighting, then once home maybe just the light in the library (aka cat hospice). Then I questioned my memory. But they are definitely gold now. And in pictures before they are the green I recall. I assume maybe in cat eyes those are similar pigment that maybe fades? All my other cats have had blue-green eyes including my other Cushing cat and his eyes stayed blue-green.
Stuff I think about staring at him wondering what his BG is…

Thanks! Liver I believe changes the white part of the eye (as in humans) and that’s normal, as are his liver enzymes despite the tumors in it (knocks on wood). Uveitis I think has red tinge from the bleeding but i did worry—my vet says it’s not that. His eyes aren’t hazy and he seems to see ok but I will ask her again and specifically about glaucoma next time he’s in in January.
