Expired strips

As we pack to move, I just found a bag with 17 boxes of Bayer Contour strips in my bathroom closet. They're unopened and were stored in a cool, dark place, but are from 2013.

Do any of you have any experience with expired strips? I used two and got readings of 188 and 191 against an unexpired one that read 195.

What do you guys think about me going ahead and using these if I test against an unexpired one every now and then?

Hmmm...I just found this chart from this company that says they did a test in which Contour strips passed at three years, weren't tested at four, and failed at five. Most of these are dated 11/13.

If they were sealed and protected, they may be OK, but I'd definitely test them against good ones often!

I wouldn't risk it myself since the chemicals on the strips do degrade with time, but I know that's a lot of money to throw away too!
