Expiration Date on ProZinc Vial

I also posted this question in the ProZinc Forum. When my Vet sent me home with Goma he gave me a vial of ProZinc with an expiration date of 11/2017. I showed him it had expired but he stated it would still be okay.

I am getting ready to give my first injection at home but wanted to verify it would be okay to use. Any thoughts?
 
Arrrgggh. That's not encouraging.

I don't use ProZinc, so I don't know how "sensitive" it is, or if there are some visual markers for insulin that has gone bad. Was the vial opened already before you got it?
