Hi
Has anyone used an exercise ball with their kitties. It is a hard, hollow ball that you put a few dry cat food pieces in. It has holes in it and kittie bats it around trying to get the food out. Harley needs to lose wt. I am following the procedure for cutting down his eating (kind of) but he needs more exercise. I thought I would try it with EVO dry (7% carbs). Since you only put in maybe 4 pieces, it's not like he is going to get a lot of dry food.

Any thoughts?

I actually have several of them here for my gang and they love them. But I don't use dry food in ours I use freeze dried shrimp treats. It isn't so much that my kids need to lose weight as they need to get rid of excess energy so I don't know if it will help Harley lose weight but they wear the kittens out here.

I bet the cat won't bother with the ball, or will just get the food out, have higher BG and won't lose an ounce.
You would have better luck with a laser beam and have the cat chase the light.

Tried the laser lite but Harley just sits and looks at it. Once in a while he will put his paw out to touch it but no running etc.

I recently purchased one of those for Niko for the mental stimulation. He loves it! He immediately ran over to it and pushed it with his paw. He also uses his nose. I put salmon jerky bits in it or occasionally evo dry but he doesn't get it daily. The one Niko has is PetSafe Slim Cat. Based on our experience, I'd definitely recommend it.
