after twinks dental he has been licking and pulling out his hair. especially on one leg\. I have a soft collar on him made by marjorie but it is too small and he can still reach that leg when he want to.
I have tried benadryl and that causes foaming and he hates it so I switched to zyrtec. added fish oil and bought a generic anti itch cream with out cortisone. leg was healing and 2 days ago (just after video on community) he got to that leg and licked it raw again. Bg have been going up last 2 days and the leg appears sore. applied more cream but it is obviously sore cause he flinches when I touch it. not as red but you can tell it is swollen and he favors that leg.also I gave him a dose of pain med left over from dental
vet closed so will call monday for appointment. I need to know
is there an alternative to steroid shot I should ask for or
suck it up and deal with higher BG ti out of system.

AND PLEASE< I know it looks bad but only got this way yesterday from licking might before and he has not touched it since.after the vid, I went downstairs to get a ~O) and by the time I got back, whole leg was licked raw. 10 min max

heck, vet may even put him on oral. is there a non steroidal route I can suggest
end of this vid shows how was healing

this pic is of right now
first pic is with leg relaxed and you can see how swollen it is. cream on ad it is hard and dry right now

was trying to no beef for awhile now and no fish until jojo told me to add fish oil to food. list of FF I feed in my condo from yesterday, Beasley is starting also. calling vet mon AM

Because this is tied to his dental my first thought is stress, which is a frequent cause of overgrooming. Ask your vet about an antidepressant and be sure to ask how long you should try one before going to the next possible treatment. This route should help you avoid a steroid.

We also spoke about dryness causing itching. Try putting Twink in a steamy bathroom for as long as he will stay calm.

vet appointment 3:25 today. he is keeping on warm wet compresses and leg looks a little better. continues to eat well but BG remain elevated.
foods are gluten free ff
