Evo vs. Merrick Before Grain--changes in BG

Hi everyone,

I have a question about fluctuating BG levels. I had my cat on Evo 95% Turkey/Chicken and his BG levels seemed pretty stable. However, he wouldn't always finish his dish and he can't afford to lose much weight so I started giving him BG 95% Turkey/Chicken which he was more enthusiastic about. I noticed his BG's were swinging quite dramatically even though I was keeping his insulin level stable. Within a 12 hour period I was getting BG's off 70 and 250!! This was going on for a couple weeks. I happened to go back to the Evo, and I've noticed the past few days that his BG's have been in 100 and some range. Anybody else experience anything like this? Just curious to know if this may be the food.

I fed my cat M's BG chicken, beef, and C+Q few times and the number seems fine. Fed him BG turkey once and number went higher. But I was not sure if it's the food, neither.

am assuming you mean the canned BG?
fwiw-- the dry BG is quite high in carbs.

Yes, forgot to mention that its all wet food.
