Has anyone else found a skin or flakes on the bottom of EVO 95& cans? I finally found a good food that Tess will eat and saw this on the bottom of the can! Could it be the lining? cat(2)_steam

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

i've seen a brown greasy film in the bottom of the Evo can...but it looked the same as on friskies. is that what you're referring to? figured it was just sediment settling from cans like normal.

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

snap a photo on your phone and post it. I recently took several cans of dogfood back for some sort of yuck growing on the surface.

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

This isn't growing on the surface, it is on the bottom, especially in that ridge on the edge. I put some of it on a black lid to show up better. The flakes broke up very easily. I'm used to seeing gelatin on the bottom but this is very different. Sorry about the pix, DH has the good camera w the macro lens.
Bottom of the can, it's hard to see the flakes against the lining
Stuff from bottom, ridge and flakes place on black lid w/ toothpick
This is the food upsde down , there is a slight film of white, but the flakes stayed on the bottom of the can.

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

Bone chips and flakes from grinding...

they use everything in the 95%...

Just like you would if you made your own.

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

Not bone chips, it's soft. I put a little in a pan and heated and it melted so maybe fat, awfully white though. What threw me was that it looked lie flakes when I first saw it. I also burned it directly and no hard residue or chemical smell. I was worried about contamination from the can lining, although I do not see any bare spots on the can.

Re: EVO cans ???? !!!!!!!!!

Whew...glad to hear it.

I've seen it in the food. Never thought much of it other than knowing they use everything. They used to come to our store and talk about their food. Course now they changed hands...so things could change too.

It is always good to keep an eye on our foods.

I've seen those white bits in EVO cans. I figured it was just solidified fat, possibly bone.

I would never have even thought to try to cook it or burn it. I guess that's why I'm not a scientist. Good work, though. At least you know what it isn't, even if you don't know what it is.
