I am testing myself, since i'm more tolerant than jellybean. =) so i did 4 test strips, from 3 different containers/boxes. used 2 different machines. every single one comes up er1. which means a used strip has been inserted. but they're all new. and new readers. the new one is relion premier, the older one (by 2 days) is relion classic. what the heck?

Are the test strips the ones that are meant for the glucose meter?
Are you getting enough blood?
I would suggest taking the machine to a pharmacy and asking them to show you how to use it

That has been happening to me as well. I'm using Contour Next GEN & associated strips. I just had 12 attempts, with I think 10 of those coming up E1 or E8, test strip problems. The last few have been okay. No idea what the problem is.

the strips are the correct ones, but what i did find out after slaughtering both mine and my son's fingertips is that the test strip has to be in the machine first. so my brilliant idea of using tweezers to hold the test strip to the cat's ear won't work. he's freaked out when i bring the monitor towards his head. =) however my son did do 3 readings in a row, the first one came up 258, then in another machine it was 148, then back to the first machine it was 145. so that was a bit worrying. these are all relion monitors and strips. the pharmacist said to call the 800 number on the side of the box, he didn't know.

Hey @Carriecae, how are things going today? How's little Jellybean?

Any luck with collecting urine for ketones? Hows the testing going? Jellybean still using you to train for the WWE?

jellybean is a master manipulator it turns out. =) for 2 weeks we switched slowly and evenly to wet low carb. he was eating it no problem. i even found some that he would gobble right up so i KNEW he would eat it. now? not touching it. sometimes a mouthful, but no more. now we're back to eating dry. went out and spent $82 on cat food at walmart. won't touch it. i'm giving bowls of leftover wet catfood to the stray cats at my son's shop daily. if i ever manage to get his blood glucose taken (have a new plan for tonight) i can't guarantee now that he'll eat afterwards no matter what i give him. even tried tuna. no thank you. did buy crystals and cleaned out an old litter box today, haven't tested that combination yet. heard him peeing in the big breeze litter box and went running with my strip, but he saw me coming and sat down in it. just. sat. *insert swear words here*. my hair is turning gray with this cat. love him to death but how many more loops can he throw at me? i know it'll get easier, i can play with his ears a bit more now, but every time i think like '"he'll always eat the rachel ray food!" he won't touch the rachel ray food. it's like he knows what i'm trying to do and thwarts me at every turn! =) my brain alternates between asking the vet how much she'd charge to come over and do it, to i have ONE MORE idea! i've got such a headache from all the stress and trying to remember all the steps when i've got him in my lap. my entire bed is decorated in manuals and a TOOLBOX full of needles and supplies. thank god i live alone! so yes, we're still duking it out! =)

Haha, Ohhhh Mr. Jellybean, cut your mama a break!

Have you tried Friskies pate? I give Mr. Mazi that food, its considered low carb, its cost friendly, and him and his brother love it!

I hope you can return the food you spent $80 on or Mr. Jellybean begins to eat it. Or hopefully the strays enjoy it! Thats so sweet of you to find the spray kitties!

Yes the information is overwhelming, but you'll get the hang of things. It takes time, for everyone. You should see how many screen shot pictures I have on my phone from advice I've found or gotten on this forum. I actually creating a few albums for them all..

The current family of Relion Premier meters are the Relion Premier Classic, Relion Premier Compact, Relion Premier Blue and the Relion Premier Voice . There previous family were Relion Prime that also came in 4 models. Thus just saying Relion Classic does not tell one what family that meter is part of. Each family uses different strips.
