Good morning!
Stayed up late last night, trying to catch the glucose rise, and it came, around 11, when he registered 234, not bad after 17 hours of his morning shot. So I injected 0.1 units and went to sleep.
I just woke up now a little before 7:00 AM, and his reading was 194. I was hoping it might have been a little better, like mid 100s, but I don't know how recently he'd eaten, so I'll take it. Unfortunately, he stole some carbs just a minute ago, so that will confuse the picture today. (aaargh!)

I have to go in and out today but since he's around his peak around now, I won't worry about a hypo. I have to go out tonight and I'm not sure if I'll wind up giving a dose around +12 (11 AM this morning) or later in the afternoon, based on the glucose (even the pre-carb one), I'd probably say the former, but of course, he'll do something completely unpredictable, I think that's his job. Numbers aside, he's been looking very good lately and I'm very pleased about that.

Have a great day!

Anybody around?

I gave 0.2 units at 11 AM and the 3 PM reading +4 was down to 74. I made sure he ate, even gave a little high carb food, and 1 hour later he is down at 64. I'm hoping that he's plateauing around now, with help from the food, but should I panic and feed more carbs?

Don’t panic. 64 isn’t horrible. Do you have food with gravy and some karo just in case?

Dry food will do, keep an eye on him, test every 15 or 20 mins and see where you are. Since it’s +5 already within an hour or so you should be on your way up naturally. You don’t want to pump him full of carbs if you don’t have to. Want to keep him safe but would be nice to avoid a 500 later.

I have Karo. I also have some of the Hills MD wet food which is higher carb but I haven't used it. My main worry is not the number itself but its timing, he's not at peak insulin level yet and that's what worries me the most. If he had the same number at +7 I wouldn't be that worried. I'm just hoping this is just his plateau.

What do you have there available to feed him besides the dry? Any mid carb? Do you have Karo or honey just in case he wants to go low?

Ahhh, I see. Can you stay with him the rest of the day, or at least until he passes + 7?

As long as you are with him and test every so often you will know what to do and you guys will be fine. Don’t forget that breathing thing :)

You should be good then. Sometimes the food takes an hour or so to kick in and be seen in your blood test.

Just rechecked at +5.5 and its 76. I hope this means that he's just on a plateau and not dropping further, or at least the food is helping preventing the fall. Should I try to feed some more?

Well, he’s going up, and you fed dry, I would test once more before you decide to feed more or not. I don’t know how food sensitive he is, but dry could take him up pretty much I think. Since you are testing every 15-20 mins, you’ll know before he would go to low, so don’t panic about that. You are doing good, you caught this at a good time.

I am gonna switch computers, you should be able to see me yet when I do. I have to go downstairs to get ready for Asher’s PMPS. I won’t leave you, I’ll have my tablet computer with me. Try testing again in 15-20 mins and we’ll take it from there.

He's now eating spontaneously, I'll be checking shortly after he gets done. I think we'll be OK, though, but it depends on the next number. Stay tuned.

Holding steady, last check was 69, so he's not really dropping, he just ate. I do need to step out for a little while but will be back within the hour. He is looking mighty fine with no hypo symptoms.

Of course! I had to make a run at the store so it won't be long but the store closes a 6.

No problem. I'm back home already (last message was from my i phone). He looks fine, I'll be rechecking shortly.

Just been stalking the thread....
Glad things are looking good.
Euk pancreas really is trying to do something. Which is really good news. I'm sure you are thinking would it just start working so you can go out of town next weekend with peace of mind. ;-)

Paws crossed this numbers continue like this! :-D

Well, looks like he's out of danger. He is up at 89 and it is about +6.5. I hope he doesn't skyrocket overnight, but then again he only had a small handful of dry food mixed in with his regular low carb food. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I hope his pancreas hurry up and heal but I know it doesn't work that way. Still, having to deal in microdoses is a good problem to have, now I have to figure out how to properly instruct the vet on his care when he boards next weekend.

Instructing the vet...oh sounds like so much fun.
When you get to that point one thing to remember be very detailed in your instructions.
Which I'm sure you already knew.

I'll be checking in much later tonight. I have a event I have to attend.

Hope the numbers stay nice!

Looks good HB. I guess you'll have to just wait until right before you go to see what dose to tell them. Good problem to have :)

Thanks, to all! You guys rock!
I'm almost out of the door myself, did one last check and he's coming in at a beautiful 106. It sures makes it easier to have a relaxing evening!
