Good morning!

Well, so much for progress...last night when I went to bed around 9:30 PM, he was at a beautiful 138, unchanged since what would have been his PMPS reading, 3.5 hours later. So I go to sleep, then I got up at 4 AM and it's up to 298. I feed him, go back to bed as I'm trying to keep the schedule 6 o'clock-12 o'clock. So now that's almost 6, I recheck and its up to 328. Actually, that's not a bad number considering how high he's been before and that it's been 24 hours without any insulin. So, it seems to me that yesterday's measly 0.1 dose lasted at least 15.5 hours, it probably wore off during the night. So the dilemma is, how much to dose? I was tempted to shoot 0.4 units but decided that 0.2 was a safer number, and I wasn't sure that 0.1 would do the job as he's gone up.

Rats, I thought he was practically THERE. Oh, well, I need to be patient and keep in mind he's done fantastically well in the last week or two. I wouldn't mind as much if it wasn't for me going out of town next weekend and how he'll be managed at the vet.

This is the second most stressful part of the dance- the first is the first few days. If there is any way you can catch him headed up, around 200 and shoot that tiny dose (maybe .1?) and then be around to monitor, it is likely that he will get off the juice faster. It is a matter of catching him and I know that is hard to manage with a job, but any time you can get a dose in before he heads up, the better. Unfortunately it often is way off the 12/12 schedule.....

Sorry I haven't posted all day, it's been an insanely crazy day with a computer meltdown at work and a busy schedule and unable to access my client database and running back and forth and a mall trip and...yes, taking care of kitty. Seems that he went down nicely this morning after the 0.2 shot, not too low to make me nervous but nice in the mid 100s for about 15 hours. It is now 11 PM which is 17 hours after his morning shot, and finally he is at 234. Since I expect him to keep rising through the night and he is eating well, I went ahead and gave a 0.1 unit dose, let's see how long that lasts. It is hard for me to catch the rise above 200 because it's usually in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping, but tonight I stayed up long enough to catch it.
