i actually had let myself believe we were on the right track finally.Had a couple of good days, and now he's feeling awful and in the reds again.

Is it something i did wrong? I adjusted his dose amps yesterday because based on his history i was afraid the usual would be too much. Now everything stinks again and i feel totally discouraged. I've never been on such an emotional rollercoaster for so long. Do you think this is bouncing or because he didnt get enough insulin yesterday?

Some kitties are bouncier than others and it is not anyone's fault. Mr B's body is still trying to get used to accepting lower numbers as "normal". There is a good chance that he hit a blue last night which would have caused a bounce back up. Sometimes the bounces are higher than other times and sometimes they last longer. I have had bounces with my two where a green would take them into a black the next day, then finally settle back down a couple of days later. Don't look at one higher number, look at the overall picture. Mr B is seeing blues more often than he was a month ago so that is a positive. Sometimes it just takes time and patience is needed. I KNOW how hard that is..I can't count the emotional meltdowns I have had. :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

Hi Jen,
I completely agree with everything Mary Ann said above. Mr. B. is definitely showing a better pattern of numbers the last several weeks so you're moving in a good direction. Please don't let one number weigh too heavily on you. It's just a number. It's the overall trend that tells the real story. Here's something else: kitties feel our stress and negative energy. Take some deep breaths and try to focus on your progress over the last 2 months. You will get there eventually.

thanks everyone. i know you're right. i get so weepy and distraught. its so hard, and i'm his only caregiver so i dont have another body in the house to share the frustration. being here and hearing your good words are a great help. thank you! i think i need a good cry today. just tired, so tired. i know you know how this feels.

I'm also Teasel's only caregiver and I highly value this forum as a way to commiserate, let off steam and so on. Feel free to vent - then put on those lovely patience pants! ;)

Just ignore it, Jen. Even if it's red all day. Focus ahead and wait to see what happens later today. It's still bouncing and he might need an upward tweak tomorrow AM. Or he might surprise you. As Mary Ann has said, good day to save on test strips and focus on other things.
