The FB discussion (which is near the top of today's page) and the Yahoo announcement explain the emergency nature of the dental situation, and why I am not posting the details here or on the DCIN blog.

If you can help, you are an Angel. This is such a heartbreaking situation.

$394.85 raised as of 10am, Eastern time. Thanks to all who have donated and thanks to all sending well wishes.

I still don't have a firm estimate on the procedure, but it appears it will be closer to the $800 end of my target range.

DCIN is still accepting donations for this. Although it appears that we can cover the procedure between the restricted donations and the use of $400 from unrestricted funds, more donations for this procedure means more unrestricted funds available in the future to help other cats.

The cat now has $903.05 for his dental. That's what we need!!! The fundraising is over. Thank you all so much for your generosity of pocket and of prayers. The bean can now focus entirely on the cat's care, and we can focus on sending positive vibes for a successful surgery and healing process.

You guys ROCK!!
 
The cat's new Mom called me from the road. The cat came through the dental procedure fine. The new Mom wants to hold a detailed report until tomorrow.

The new Mom is annoyed that the front desk didn't tell the vet that photos were needed. But we have before and after X-Rays on disk. But Mom hasn't yet spoken with the vet about how many roots she took.

The bad news is that the cat has Calici virus. I don't know what that means, or how it was DX, except that the new Mom says it is transmitted to other cats by casual contact. The new Mom, as you might know, fosters a number of diabetic cats, and she doesn't want them to have a virus that would make them unadoptable. (V runs her hands through her hair in exasperation.) The new Mom plans to touch base with some rescue folks who might know what Calici means for the cat and the new Mom's herd.
