Hi everyone! Snits is doing good, still in remission with beautiful greens. I'm looking to implement some dry into her diet as a sort of treat because she keeps trying to get into the other cat's dry and has succeeded a few times. She's getting fed enough wet so I think maybe if she didn't feel like she was missing out she would stop seeking it out. To clarify, it won't replace the wet at all, it will just supplement it.

What's everyone's experiences on all these dry options? I've heard success and horror stories on each and have learned that every product is going to have some of that. Tysm!

Hi Elsy, in regards to dry food, if your fur baby is all green on remission as you say, the dry food has extremely high carbs, very high carbs, if you want her to stay in these greens numbers it's important you feed her low carbs between 0-10%, I have two cats and I place them both on the same type of food, Fancy Feast Pates, they grew up on dry food, not realizing ever knowing that cats could even have diabetes, I sit with them both to make sure they eat their own food, since at time I do need to feed Corky, some medium carbs with her regular low carb food. You are very lucky, in the since your cat is on remission as you say, but feeding high carb food or treats ( they are almost all 18-25% carbs they lived on treats in the past, unless you give them natural or very low carb treats I feed them Frick's Gourmet ham in tiny little squares and the ham is only 1% carbs below you have a link of all the foods containing the carbs, it is your choice, most of the members do enjoy the Fancy Feast it is made in USA, which is very good it is regulated, so the food is great and there are many flavors to choose from, you'll have medium and high carb foods, like gravies for instance, stick to pates and flakes. my Corky's spreadsheet or Glucose numbers are almost there in all green numbers, I test often by habit, you may see his spread sheet and remarks of the food, quantities and times he eats. I hope this is helpful:bighug::cat::cat:

I think those are about 5 or 6 % carbs. I myself wouldn't feed them
You can give freeze dried treats

Freeze dried treats that only contain one ingredient (the meat or fish) is zero carb andfine to feed to a diabetes

There are some air dried and freeze dried foods you may want to consider. I’ve used ZiwiPeak (air dried) and Kiwi Kitchens, Feline Naturals and Stella and Chewy’s (freeze dried).

@CORKY I know dry cat food is high in carbs, the particular ones I listed in my title are not.
I've been using Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein Chicken (low carb) dry for almost a year now & haven't had any problems. I couldn't take her being hungry half the day while I was gone at work 9+ hrs with just a frozen chunk of wet food that would often go bad anyway (i.e., dry up & bc not palatable to them) before she got hungry (& plus it's much more expensive). Plus I had to leave something out for my other cats while gone that long too bc it's unheard of & cruel not to. And lastly, I couldn't stand her looking longingly at the others eating their dry while wondering why she was being singled out (they eat wet too, have always fed my cats both and my 4 cats I had before my current crew lived to: 17, 17, 18, & 20y/o and weren't diabetic, but of course that's not always the case). So I started leaving portions out of Dr. Elsey's for the rest of my cats too while I'm gone since I couldn't leave any other type of dry out for them bc she would be able to access it. I couldn't live without dry bc I have a multi-cat household where when it is mealtime: they are literally tripping me, jumping on tables/chairs, & yelling their heads off and I can't get it out the cans fast enough nor get all the supplement powders mixed in so I HAVE to put something down to calm them down until I can get all their food bowls ready. Kind of like when you get home from 9+ hrs at work starving and have to nibble on something while you're cooking or you'll pass out (of course that's life here in the U.S., don't know abt elsewhere).

See that's kind of where I'm at. I can't be home ALL the time and when I'm not other people aren't as careful and she gets into things she shouldn't, which is what happened last night. Also yes to the singled out thing. I think I should have rephrased my question as more of offering it to her for one of her meals a day and not as a snack. Thanks for your input! I think I may try and give her some Elsey's. My biggest fear is that any dry is going to push her out of remission which in that case it wouldn't be worth it, but these three options are low carb so it theoretically shouldn't happen.
