Egg yolk what do you think?

I've been adding 1/4 of a hard boiled egg yolk to my 2 civvies' shared wet food once a day since early July.
I did this in response to

and on the recommendation of @Susan G & Jimmy G

I think over the past 3 weeks each civvie has: (a) produced 1 big hairball; (b) thrown up food once (stress related perhaps).
I believe this is an improvement over their pre egg yolk behavior: I was cleaning up messes every day when I decided to try it.
I'm not 100% convinced yet. Maybe I don't have the dose quite right. One civvie sometimes eats with Yum instead of the other civvie.
Yum likes being brushed so she doesn't have hairballs and she doesn't get egg yolk. Egg yolks do contain some carbs, maybe .2g per yolk.

Keep going and play with the amount. But it sounds like it's working! From what I understand I believe carbs are a non issue with the yolks. Thanks for reporting back! Hair balls are not normal and I'm sure kitty is feeling better too.

I've been reading a lot lately about the benefits of egg yolks for cat's hair balls. My Leo could sure use help in that area. I try to comb and brush him every day but it depends on what mood he's in on whether he lets me do a good job.

They work for mine. Hair passes through their stools instead of via vomit. I made my own - but for time's sake will prob order directly through foodfurrlife (link in above post). Amount is 1/4 egg yolk per day.

I gave Leo some egg yolk last night after I had made some hard boiled eggs. I was surprised that he ate it without being mixed in food. He seemed to really like it which is odd because he doesn't like people food at all. He also loves the pureed pumpkin. Who would have thought? I guess we'll be eating a lot of eggs now.

One thing though egg yolks do have a lot of phosphorus so if any of your kitties has kidney issues you may want to be careful with the amount of it they have
