The vet wanted to try Lantus, and I have the prescription called in, but the past few cycles have seemed a little better for Ebby. She has at least been in the 300's for PS the past few days. While I'm not happy with these numbers, it is much better than those ugly reds and blacks. Yesterday at +9 she was 195 which I thought was pretty good. She is still drinking and peeing too much though.

If I were to start Lantus, today would be a good day because I will have 4 days off from work. Is this crazy to try the switch now when she is maybe showing better numbers on prozinc? I'm sort of leaning towards still switching today or tomorrow, mainly because she is showing those clinical symptoms (although the symptoms are reduced.) I just don't want to undo any progress we've made so far. I'm thinking the prozinc to lantus switch is a fairly smooth transition because you don't have to stop insulin before the switch. The vet said start on 1 unit of Lantus, but I would probably start on .75 just to be safe.

I would like to see if she responds better on Lantus; just stress a lot over making the right decision.

I think I'm going to go ahead with the switch...just picked up prescription. I'm not always going to have 4 days off in a row, so thinking today is a good day to do it.
